Shrek The Musical at Arizona Broadway Theatre
Shrek The Musical brings the familiar story of Shrek, Donkey, and Princess Fiona to the stage through original songs, comic characters, and theatrical spectacle. The musical features music by Jeanine Tesori and a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, based on the DreamWorks animated film. Its Broadway run began in December 2008, and the production has since been staged by touring, regional, and international companies.
The show's score includes “Story of My Life,” “I Know It's Today,” and the finale “I'm a Believer.” Elaborate costumes and fantasy-inspired staging help create the world of Far Far Away, while the Dragon puppet is a notable production feature. The Broadway production received Tony Award nominations, including for Best Musical, and the musical was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.
